Lotus 79
Lotus 79 was designed by Colin Chapman and is regarded as the first “Ground Effect” car.
Introduced as the successor to the Lotus 78 halfway through the 1978 F1 World Championship, the JPS Lotus 79 won 6 out of 8 races, Andretti winning 5 and Peterson winning one, coming 2nd in a further 3 races. Sadly Ronnie Peterson was killed in an accident at the 1978 Italian Grand prix.
